Default Dollar Store

Has anybody found anything at the dollar store I have been to two of them around home. Haven't found anything but a few votive glasses. I'm hoping to find some clocks to tear apart. I suppose you have to be there at the right time.
It isn't a bad idea.

well, gotta say i have. small tubs to apply b.l.o. to a project in, tape, acid brushes, foam brushes, paper towel( but can be cheaper elsewhere), dollar towels make great rags, string to hang projects to hang a finish,( shoe laces, too), wax for tool surfaces, and much more. i usually go into a dollar store with the thought that iffen i dont need it to be high quality, i can but it here. we do have a dollar store here in west branch, mi. that has tools that they sell for a buck. drill bits, pliers, saw blades, h.s.s. router bits, and such. they are vermont american, which i think is sold at ace. all for a buck each.

I'm in Michigan too and have found all kinds of great things at dollar stores. The foam brushes and acid brushes are always a steal. I buy puzzles for my daughter there since I know she'll loose a piece in no time at all anyhow. I don't know about if they have clocks, but I imagine sometimes they do. In michigan, you pretty much have to shop the dollar stores. That's about all the money the governor leaves us.

I'm thinking there's a kiln in Houghton Lake, some place that makes log siding. They have an office near the home depot.

Best sources/closest place for you to get wood is in Charlotte at Johnson's workbench. Lucky me they are only 12 miles west of me. They have everything, all the domestics, exotics, plywoods, tools. Best time to shop is second week in september, that's the wood expo which is the same weekend as frontier days in charlotte, so it gets real busy. you can set up a booth at johnson's for free. The crowd is big at the bench and draws even more off the festival which is only a few blocks away. I'm sure it's planned that way, the woman drop the men off at the workbench and they go to the craft show.

Do yahoo searches for kilns in michigan, you will find lots up in your area. You are in 2x4 country.

Oh...in the Thumb there is a guy in Marlette that kiln dries hardwoods and does it for whoever wants it done as well as sells domestics. Sometimes I see a guy in the wheeler dealer that sells and dries lumber somewhere just barely north of Saginaw area.

Pretty soon we'll have 25 cent slots on them rest area toilets to help pay for those places, and I wish I was kidding. I don't know it to be a fact, I just think it's something that will be coming soon.

dollar store.... packaging tape. The cheap dollar store brand works best on wood before applying the pattern. Dale

Ran out of painters tape. I didnt find any painters tape at the dollar store, but picked up masking tape. A little thin, a minus, but the poor adhesian makes for a pretty good substitute.

I found a place in Traverse City for wood by using www.woodfinder.com Put in your zip code and they will some of the places near you. For my pine, oak, cherry, I go to a local sawmill. Not sure what he has anymore - it's been a couple years since I went out there. Dry kilns - the 2 I've used in the past have both burnt down.
