Bill, how big are those apples? And what are they coloured with?

Would basswod work for the arrow do you think?

The apple is about the same size as an ordinary apple and I just used some gloss red paint on them. Making the apple is the easy part to turn out on the lathe in about 10 to 15 minutes. The stem on the apple is a short piece of leather shoe lace glued into a little hole with CA.
The arrow takes a little longer because it has to be both turned and scroll sawed.

Yes, basswood will work just fine for the arrow.
Most any wood will work for the apple. I used maple because a friend gave me a bunch of it and maple turns real nice on a lathe.

Hey Fred and Bill....

Every now and then , 'gems from the other side' are sprinkled over the 'lucky few'.

I'm totally knocked out with your 'revelations'...... both of which are 'to the top' of my project list.

Thank you !!...... and your secrets are safe with me !!! Hehhehheh.

... ray.

Default Pencil Puzzle Big Hit

Hello
I had a pencil puzzle over the weekend, I took it to work on Monday and it was a big hit. Everyone had an idea on how it was done, no one got it right, by boss thought he would pull a fast one he went home at lunch time and look it up. When he told me how he though I did it was to close to what this site say I call him on it. I told the rest of my co workers they all though it was really cool. My wife took it to her job today and everyone there thought it was cool as well. No one there could figure out how it was done. It was a lot of fun hearing people thoughs on it.

Here is one I did just before Thanksgiving. I used a pencil from my local hardwood dealer and took it in to them. I sure had them wondering how I got thier pencil in there.

He told me to go to the electrical department, that they have flexible bits there. He was dead serious. Any way, these are going to be fun to take to the hardware stores and see the reactions of the people working there. It drives them nuts when you don't tell them how it's done.
Nice looking puzzles there. How cleaver!
