Default need to find table inserts for scrollsaw

I bought a dremel scrollsaw about 4 months ago, and having a blast. however, i have worn out a couple of handmade table inserts due to the fine closeup work i do, and have been trying to find someone who sells the inserts....it doesn't have to come from a dremel, just needs to be the right size, and i believe they are standard sizes....does anyone know where I can find them...i really need close cut inserts (not large holes)...thanks

My old saw is a Dremel 1800 and I had a similiar problem. I called the number listed in the owners manual and they sent me two inserts at no charge, nad I received them in a week if I remember right. I posted something about it back in the Spring of 2005 here in the forum, I'll dig around and see if the topic is still available.

you said the ones you wore out were hand made, can you not just make more? Of course I am sure you can buy them somewhere, but they will not likely be zero clearance which it sounds like you want.

I make my own inserts from BBply. They are easy to make and I can make the hole as small as I want.
There is an article in issue 22 but if you don't have that issue or cant find it, let me know and I will send the info to you.

I made my own out of acrylic I had laying around- It cuts very easy and didn't splinter or crack at all- I needed it to be a hair thicker so I glued some rubber band sections underneath. it has worked great so far- I am planning on doing one for my bandsaw as soon as I get around to it.
In the mean time you can order those from sears in the repair department- I have ordered screws from them for my saw before and if you need a part number just let me know and I will look it up

Thank you all for your responses.
You've been a great help....it sounds like there is no company that makes them. too bad. but your suggestions will definitely be used.thanks again.

Am I missing something here? Dremel was not only mentioned twice, but in the second post the address, phone number etc. was given. Also mentioned was that they sent out inserts which arrived in a week. Is there a reason you say that no company makes inserts?

I have a problem with the little insert that is around the blade. It is not the same height as the table. Causes me problems with the wood getting caught on the edge. Is this what we are talking about?
I am trying to figure out how to add something to make it a tad higher or cut out a new one somehow.

Dragon,
If it's too low, I'd take it out and put a few strips of masking tape under it...to build it up to the proper level. The blades will go right through the tape...

Forgive my typing; I cut myself carving at lunch, and never realized how much you use your pinkey finger while typing...
