Default Internet Explorer 7

Those of you who like to use MS Internet Explorer as your browser might be interested in the latest version, IE 7, which is now available for download. I've just installed it on my computer and reached the early conclusions that:

a. it seems harmless enough; and,
b. it's a vast improvement on the previous version.

It has tabbed browsing, like Opera and Mozilla Firefox. This means you don't have to open a new browser window every time you want to open a new page.

I'm sure there are other improvements too, but I'll look for those later .

Gill (who doesn't have a cell phone either)

Add me to the list of people without a cell phone and I have never talked on one.

Hmm - researchers have already found security issues with it! More precisely with the combination of IE and Outlook.

Most of the new features in IE7, as far as I can see are just Microsoft playing catch up to Firefox, which I've used for the past couple of years, after finding it much more stable than IE6.

Besides any alternative to Microsoft is good IMO...

I quite agree, Ian - Firefox has been leading the way with browsers for years and Microsoft is only just catching up. For myself, I use Firefox although even it isn't without security vulnerabilities. I don't think the software has yet been written that some determined charlatan can't penetrate once they set their mind to it.

Browsers with tabbed features do make the internet experience more productive and pleasureable. A lot of people are familiar with MS products and feel comfortable with the brand, so I thought it might be helpful to draw attention to the latest version. When I said it seems to be harmless, I was referring to the fact that it doesn't seem to dominate the computer in the same way that some MS products have in the past.

There's an interesting comparison of IE and Firefox here - not entirely serious ..lol
