Canadian Thanksgiving - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

This weekend we are having guests over so today was spent preparing for their arrival tomorrow.

Although Monday is our Thanksgiving, my herd will be celebrating tomorrow because of herd members traveling.

Each year we all take a moment and talk about what we are Thankful for. Today as I was preparing for company and working on preparing the garden for the winter ahead, I was trying to find my words for my turn in the Thanksgiving circle.

One of my thanksgivings are the many friends I have on this forum. Several new over the past year. If I were to say this during the Thanksgiving circle it wouldn't mean much to the herd, so I wanted to let those who matter know.

I am Thankful for the friendships, for the opportunities to learn from others ...for the moments we spend together and the laughter you may not know you give me.

Hear, hear!

I give thanks for all the nice conversations, the words of encouragements received, the sharing of a feeling of humanity in projects accomplished, the laughter and even the tears.

I give thanks to those that have made me feel welcome and that have forgiven me my outbursts, and to those that have shared their patterns and talent and counsel with me.

I give thanks for having the tools to enjoy my passion, and to have passed another year without injury and in good health.

I give thanks to the hosts of this forum for making this extended family enjoyable on a regular and well organized basis.

And although she is unaware of this, I give thanks to my loving wife for letting me live my passion without reproach.

And finally I give thanks for Sharon's recovery.

LOL, yes Kelley we do have Turkey for our Thanksgiving too. .... However, I have also attended Thanksgivings in the past where other birds such as duck, partridge, or cornish hens have been the main dish. Many families also choose lamb or ham for the occassion aswell.

Sue was in charge of the turkey this year and she did a wonderful job. It sure was nice to have help in the kitchen this year, but then again, she was so excited about the Canadian Thanksgiving, she was inviting relatives I didn't even know I had! LOL.

We get the opportunity to do it all again in November, so we can share the American Thanksgiving with her. My son is wondering how he can convince her to go vegan.... lol.

I know I am thankful that I am not a fowl.
Here everything is automated,
The plant says we need 4000 birds that are 5 Kg withing 2 months.
The computer sends a signal to the farm and the machines dispense the correct amount of food and water to ensure that all 4000 birds are the correct size at harvest time.

Ahh to be civilized.

I can't handle tofu though so what is a savage to do?
