Default What do you do with what you make

Howdy Again

Now that we know what part of the job everyone likes to do and how much time they spend in the shop doing it. What do you do with your finish project.

Once again comments welcome but not neccessary .
thanks....pete

Most of the things I make I give away.
I have done some custom work for people, not made much money but had the fun of the project.

I did try a couple of craft sales in the past but I found that in the town where I live the Dollar Stores have taken over most of the lower end market.

Not that I want to undersell myself but I am no businessman.
Someday someone may find I am the only available artisan in the area and I may make some money.
Till then it is free.

Carl...howd you answer before i hit post it .....lol

Anyway, i usually give away more than i sell. I would like to actually make money at this "hobby for profit" thing some day.

I figure i need to sell 500 items at 300.00 each to just break even for all the tools i "HAD" to have...........and you ?

I got all my tools as gifts so I don't have to recover that cost.
I do buy some wood, or get others to buy the wood for projects.

The bigger stuff I give away is birthday and wedding gifts, so in the end I am saving money.

Does that sound logical? If it does we all need therapy

Pete, I had to click on two opptions. I make most my stuff just for me and hubby. but love to make things for family and friends. But mostly for myself. I do find that since i have started this. the gifts I give are so much more appreciated, than if i would have gave mony or shoped for them. I have had alot of folks wondering if I sell what I make, but for now. no. just wont to make things I always admired, for myself. for me, its my time now. and wont to do as many projects that i can before I have to make a living again. then maybe I have built my skills up enouph to do it for a living.
