What's behind your username?

I have noticed that some people use their name (or parts thereof) for their username whilst others have some rather obscure names. It may be interesting to hear why you chose your username.

I chose mine in a hurry - couldn't think what to put then remembered how a few people had called me 'Little flower' at various times during my life. And so I thought "that'll do". (Immediately afterwards I thought it sounded rather like an American Indian puesdo-name... but I'm a Kiwi...maybe should have used 'Kiwi lady' or something... but oh well, too bad, too late.)

Then I started to think about why I have been called that and it was because I was named Teresa after the saint commonly known as 'The Little Flower". Often people do take on the attributes attached to their names or nicknames, and I have to say that I have always gained much joy out of the 'little things' in life. I live with a philosophy (because of health reasons) of "making the most of my little windows of opportunity". Right now, scrollsawing is one of those precious windows, and God willing, I hope it lasts for a long time! So yes, maybe Little flower was the right one for me after all.

So that's a little more about me. Now what about you?

Woodbutcher = creator of exquisite firewood.
68 is the VHF channel the fishermen use on the South end of Lake Michigan.
Last year I got more involved with woodworking and have basically quit fishing. Gas prices didn't help either! The only water my boat has seen in almost two years is rain or when I water the lawn.

I grew up playing golf (a lot)! And at least once a week I would play with this older couple in there 70's (just happened to be there when they played). I was never known to be a fast walker... in fact there were times as a teen I had trouble keeping up with the old couple.

One day when playing with them I birdied 5 holes in a row. The old man said something like, "You are just like some old Grizzly bear lumbering around in the forrest, but when you go on the attack, your ferousious! There's the Golden Bear (Jack Nicklaus) but you're "The Grizz."

Of course I liked that idea, and has stuck since when using nicks and such.

wwalker47 is w for my first name and walker my last and 47 the year I was,(should I admit?) the year I was born ( Hu 19 not 18) . Now you know.

My nic has nothing at all to do with my ability (although I wish it did). It's a response to a running joke with a friend of mine who only uses spiral blades (the "dark" side) who several of us jokingly refer to as Darth. As I only use flats I figured that made me a Jedi. Before anyone goes off on a tirade about flats vs. spirals, please know that this is all in fun.

My user name is a derivative of my "nickname". It seems that all folks with the name Mullins (my last name) get the name "Moon" given to them at some time. It comes from "Moon Mullins" in the old Gasoline Alley comic strip here in the US. "Moon" was my callsign in Vietnam when I was flying fighters and now that I am twice retired and a "senior", "Old Mooner" seemed appropriate.

Well although my name sounds obvious I am not yet a Canadian
I tried using the name Scroller as a logon name at a site and it was taken
So I put Canadian in front of it, since I live in Canada and have for 41 years.
I have always been a procrastinator. I can my self the King of Procrasty Nation.
Just yesterday I sent my Citizenship papers away and I will hopefully become the true Canadian scroller in the near future.
I am not the only procrastinator in Canada, it will take up to 18 months to process the paperwork. How is that for red tape!

Pi A La Modem came from the early days of AOL, even before they let in the dark side (non-Mac users). I used dozens of different names, each one whackier than the last, just to amuse myself and my online friends. This one I just always thought was the funniest. I really should have signed up here as CarrotCreek, the name of my business, but, well, what the heck.

You can say that some of my ramblings are as comprehensible as the sound of Pi being sent through a 1200 baud modem.

Thats my goal when I get to the right age... some say I'm there already...
