Hi, gang.....I just thought I'd send a call out for any young scrollers out there who might want to contribute to a good cause. I am part of an organization called "Kids Create Hope." The purpose is for kids to find ways to generate money which is 100% directed toward pediatric cancer research. Since it's inception about 5 years ago, we have raised over $75,000. One of the ways we raise money is through craft sales.....the majority of crafts are made by kids, and then they are sold. There are no "administrative costs".....everything goes toward finding successful treatment of cancer in kids. One of our larger sales is coming up September 22-23rd, and my kids are already at work making creations. I know there are some younger members on the forum who post from time to time. I was wondering if any young scrollers out there might be willing to donate a small hand-made item for us to sell. If you are a young scroller who would like to help, we would love to have something of yours. Anything small and simple would be wonderful. To the adults on the forum.....if you know of any young scrollers, or even have a child of your own who you are teaching to scroll, if they could come up with something, it would be fantastic. Nothing has to be a masterpiece....most of the things we sell are made by kids, and the imperfections give them charm. People like to buy them in large part because everything goes to a great cause. If there is anybody who wants to donate an item, please PM me, or EMail me at Shawn@fergusonpuzzles.com, and I will give you an address to where you can send it, along with our thanks. I would prefer that parents respond, but if a young forum member does, please do not send me (or anyone) personal information about yourself such as an address or phone number. Simply providing a name (and signing your piece) would be great.....if we get a nice response, I would like to create a sign in our tent acknowledging the young scrollers who donated their ware. Here is a link to a thread on the forum a few years ago, along with a few pics from our craft sale. Kids Helping Kids! The goal of this thread is to generate charitable scrolling interest amongst our younger members, but in the event that anybody wishes to donate money, please do not send anything to me. Instead, donations can be made to: Kids Create Hope Pediatric Cancer Research Fund Roswell Park Cancer Institute Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263 THANKS!! |
