Default The bug er thread

Post pix of any insect, moth, butterfly or creepy crawly you come across and what part of the world you found it in the bug-er threat.
Should be interesting and fun.
When we get a bunch of pix we'll PICK the best ones
Here is another quandary for Mike to ponder.
"Will these be PICKS or FLICKS?"

Default Assassin beetle

Here are pics of an Assassin Beetle that kept our thistle plants free of "bad bugs" for a few days, a few years ago. It's eating a Bumble Bee! While it was here it wasn't very particular about what bugs it ate, spiders, moths, anything it could get.

Don't know what this is, but it was actually almost this size. I got just a little close to it. It's in Kansas.

I did a little looking.

Be careful of this guy. Can deliver a nasty bite that can cause severe reactions.
They also carry the parasite that causes Chagas' Disease. I think that's the one they are calling the new aids.

Thanks for posting, getting fun already. That almost looks like an assassin too
Do you see Jerusalem cricket there? Used to find them often when I lived in Wyoming. http://kaweahoaks.comThat almost looks like an assassin too /html/jerusalem_cricket.html

Thanks John, I must have had a beer burp back up on me. Causes vapor lock. Hows your winter going. So hot and humid here if I step away from the AC it's only to go out to the pool.
