The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Trees is good. I bought the guide for flowers and it is a great book. They sell it on amazon.com and they have some sample pages so you can see what the pictures look like. Make sure you get the one for your region. i picked up the wrong one and had to return if for my area. But it is a great book and easy to use.
