The good thing about growing older is that you learn to have no shame nor do you get embarrassed easily Last Tuesday I finally had my operation to liberate a couple of tendons in my right hand and in keeping with the saga's posted previously the event wasn't without a few hiccups. Firstly, I was kept waiting a couple of hours extra (4 in total) due to an emergency operation in the theatre of the private clinic where the local Social Security admin had sent me to be carved up. Secondly, it was freezing cold and the clinic pre op rooms had what to me seemed like a gale force wind blowing through them. Of course it didn't help that I was made to strip off completely and put on a disposal paper gown! Thirdly, after bandaging my legs - supposedly to help pre-op circulation, which seemed weird to me - the nurse couldn't find a vein in my left arm to fit the drip bottle. She called for another nurse and then left the room whilst this second nurse struggled the same and finally switched her attention to my right arm where she eventually got lucky and fitted the drip, only to be told by a surprised first nurse that she'd stuck it in the wrong arm! I then got wheeled off to the operating theatre where two more nurses and a female doctor played stick the pin in the donkey in my left arm again with three failures before the male anesthesiologist saved the day by sticking the drip needle on the underside of my arm. I now have 5 real nice big bruises as evidence of my experience as a human pin cushion! Fourthy, I found out later that instead of having a local anesthetic as programmed they knocked me out cold to the tune of Queen singing full blast 'We Are The Champions" from a jukebox sized radio in the corner of the theatre. Apparently the surgeon had picked the music specially since he knew I was English, even thought i thought this was just the theatre crew showing off in view of the song title! Fifthly, and the final injustice, was waking up fairly muzzy back in the pre-op room wondering where the hell I was, lifting myself upright on the bed to see my darling wife with an evil grin on her face snapping this photo of me on her cellphone, which no doubt will be displayed to all and sundry over the next few days, weeks and months to come! I've purposely posted a thumbnail link to the main image cos i don't want to shock anyone who may stumble onto this thread by accident, but for your entertainment, mirth and fiendish thoughts, here you go. Laugh all you like folks. Like I say, I ain't got no shame!!! ![]() ![]() On a serious note, thanks for all the kind wishes for a speedy recovery. You guys are great!

| LOL! - keep them coming folks! Hey Shawn, that looks like my Fito sitting on the op theatre floor begging for bones! Doc says three to four weeks and I'll be back in business with the scroll saw. I reckon I'll be cutting before thanksgiving day and saving stuff to be shaped and sanded for when the stitches are removed in two weeks time. Any longer than that and i'll be really feeling blue! And hey folks - I reckon if an artist like Picasso can have a 'Blue Period', well so can I!

Jim, I'm glad they bandaged your legs prior to sending to the land of nod. Waking up and seeing that when you only had a finger worked on would give a bloke a heart attack for sure. All I can say is "women are just plain evil"

The only thing better, would have been if they had of put stockings on your feet for circulation Jim! Guess that would have clashed with the regimental look though....LOL You might need to wear long sleeves till the bruises go away when your out and about though.Sounds like you've got more tracks than Grand Central Station! hehehe ![]() Jerry

Ah the indignities of surgery. At least they didn't paint your nails while you were out to match the little blue dress . Glad to hear everything went well and you'll be back at it soon. Maybe you can do some more of those fine tutorials while you're recuperating?
