Here's Chip. He's the Shop Supervisor. He watches me carefully most days in case a treat falls out of my pocket.

Default My little buddy, Dusty Lee

I rescued Dusty from a kennel where someone had returned him after mistreating him. He is a toy poodle, about 20 pounds.
He was a real mess when I first got him, in more ways than one. Mostly, he had a submission urinary problem from being mistreated, meaning that all you had to do was look at the poor little guy cross-eyed or raise your voice unexpectedly and he would pee all over himself, the carpet, the vinyl floor, etc. I had a rough time getting him over that. He still does it once-in-a-great-while if something startles him. Mostly though he just comes running to me, which is in itself a miracle of sorts since I couldn't even get him to come to me for about a month after I brought him home. Actually, he's now fairly well adjusted. I've had him about 10 months now.
Don't let that innocent look fool you, either. He can be a real rascal!
Thanks for starting the thread Jim!

Hi Bubba - Notwithstanding the ill-treatment your Dusty received before you rescued him, frenchies, particularly the smaller varieties, have a tendency to become over-excited and relieve themselves uncontrollably.

Its always amusing to me when my sister-in-law comes knocking - she lives a few doors away and has always made a fuss of Fito from him being a puppy. He goes crazy when he sees her, jumping up and down to amazing heights and spraying everywhere at the same time. This causes me so much amusement that I once offered to loan her my fishing waders for protection but she gracefully declined.

I'm told by the vet that with age this tendency will decrease - he reckons around about 12 years old when Fito can't jump so high! So it looks like I have a few more good years of amusement left at my sister-in-laws expense. LOL!

Believe me Jim, I know about the excitement thing. He jumps about three feet in the air every time I come in the house because he knows he is about to get a treat if he's been good. No peeing, though. That only happens as I said before.
He's a great little fella, though, and I get a good deal of pleasure out of having him around.
Now, my girls are another story. They are "shi-poms," that is, they are shitzu/pomeranian mix. Talk about exciteable!! The youngest (Koko) was found in an old dresser drawer when she was about two weeks old. Her mother had her there, then for some reason abandoned her. The owner, knowing I had her sister from another mother (same father) asked if I could take her and care for her. Needless to say that was number 2. Little Bit, weighing in at a feisty 4 pounds and the ring leader, is the oldest. Dusty is number three, and the last!

Bubba
