Default Cool computer trick -- Magnifier under Windows

I know some of us have tired eyes (myself included) and sometimes the details we'd like to see cause us to get right up on the screen.

Well, Windows has a magnifier built in. Under Vista this was accessed by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> Magnifier. This will bring up the Magnifier control window. Play around with it and see what it does.

If you're running Windows 7, all you need to do is hold down the Windows key and press the Plus sign (+). Give it a second to initialize the magnifier, and you should see your screen jump into magnification. Pressing the Windows and Plus keys again will increase magnification while pressing the Windows and Minus keys will decrease magnification. When you're idle, the magnifier control will turn into a little magnifying glass. Just click on it to open it again.

In both systems, hit the X in the upper-right to close the magnifier.

I use this all the time and just thought I'd share.

Hitting the CRTL X will do the same thing on the older systems
