Default Has anyone had this happen?

Has anyone had someone rate one of your cuttings in the gallery a low number when you have a list of 10's on that particular item? That has happened to me on a few occasions and it's always been from someone who hasn't posted but 1 or 2 times and then never heard from again,or at least, I can't find anything on them. I can understand someone rating something a 9 or even an 8 because there's always a difference of opinion but to go from a list of 10's and suddenly get a 6 on it, well, it sorta gets under my skin sometimes. It's as if this person or persons come on here just to downgrade someone's work just for the he** of it and then go away. I've even pm'd one person who did this to me and asked what they found wrong so I could correct it but you never hear from them. I guess some people just want to downgrade stuff for the fun of it. I know there's no reason to get upset but I take a lot of pride in my work and I don't do shotty work. I wouldn't put anything on here that I didn't consider top grade. I'm finished now I guess. I just had to vent a little bit. David

I understand the frustration..Sometimes the price we pay for having a really diverse group is one or two butt heads slip through the cracks. Doing something like that is just being childish but you are right they don't matter in the end.

You have great items in your gallery, so never mind the ding dong.

Gosh David, sorry. some folks are just hurtful. and take joy out of your pain, don't give them any mind. some times I am in a bad mood, and say things I wish I could take back. but hopefully in are group, we can always talk about it. and get to the real reason of the post. Thumbs up

guitarman
I went and looked at your gallery and saw the pieces you are talking about.I find them to be superb work.You should consider that they are probably jealous that they can't do that good.Any way all of what I saw in your gallery is 10+ work!

I must be missing something here, I also went and looked at your gallery and saw no rating less then an 8. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong gallery.
I thought the work was pretty good but I'm not sure I agree with JD that all your work deserves a 10+

Thanks guys, I didn't mean to stir up anything. Just needed to vent to my friends. Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate you all. David
Marsha, I'm not sure I'd agree either.

Ya just gotta laugh it off David. I had someone who joined just so they could rate one of my cuttings a 1. Such is life. While ratings are nice, they don't mean much. As long as folks fork over $$$ for the pieces that's all the ratings I need, hehehehehe.

Hi David - It's obvious you are pee-ed off by this trivia from stupid folks but don't let it get under your skin.

Personally I don't give much attention to ratings. I'd much rather chat about a persons work in the posts where you get a true appreciation of what fellow members think and where if people don't like a particular piece they will either politely say so or just stay away.

The only rating that matters is your own. If you are happy with your work why worry about other folks. Also, as Kevin rightly says, if I were selling my pieces at a satisfactory price, rate them as you wish!!!

David;

There is a forum/gallery of painted miniatures that has painted metal figures from all over the world. They have a 1 - 10 rating systems as well and over the years I have seen pieces that are superb (8 - 10) be given votes of less than 6 and find that most that have voted that way are jealous of the attention, detail, and general acceptance of the piece or they do it just to try and snipe a person's rating. There is no real reason for it, just human nature. I guess my long winded point is that you are not the only one that has had this done to them, nor will you be the last. It can be upsetting, but ignore the one shots in the dark and look to the general consensus of you work.

You do very good work!

Don't let those folks bother you Dave. My theory is that if I am satisfied that my work is first class than I honestly could care less what someone else thinks (if they are scamming you). It happened to me a few times and I just chuckled. Don't worry about it.
