Default New addition coming

My good friend, the shepherd in my Avatar had to be put down a couple of weeks ago. She was only 7 1/2 but developed a spine disease that slowly made her loose the use of her back legs. I was having to lift her back end up so she could walk a few steps. The vet said it was just as well to put her down as she would start falling and likely break something. Not an easy job saying goodbye.

As we have always had large dogs we desided to try one with short hair as the Shepherd was always shedding. The new addition is a Doberman. The day I put the deposit on her was the day that she was going to have her tail cut. I told the breeder I did not want the tail cut and he had a hard time understanding why. As I was making a deposit he agreed to leave her tail alone. I explained that I wanted a dog not a show piece and as it was born with a tail she should keep it. Anyway here is a pic of her at 2 1/2 weeks.

Well done on the tail. Chopping off ears and or tails seems so friggin barberic to me. I hope the new pup is all you hope for. We just lost our great danes to old age and health issues, and now have 2 new puppies that are 9 months old and rule the house.

Thanks for not bowing to doggy political correctness. I hope you can raise her as a the kind and gentle dog that she looks like she wants to become.

Goggie!!! At one time there might have been a logical reason for docking the tail, but since they are no longer really bred for that reason, why remove the tail. Good on you and best of luck with the new member of the family and blessing to the other who is in goggie heaven!

What a sweet pup! Sorry about your friend. We had a Sheppard with hip and back problems also, I know how hard it is. Now we have little "tag-a-longs" so traveling is easier. Always LOVED Dobies!
