Wasn't looking for one but just got a phone call a few minutes ago and have a job starting Monday. Actually will be there only Tuesday because I already had booked the chimney sweeper for Monday. And I have some costumes to sew for the show. Was very relaxed but now I am running like a maniac. I will be working on a "one on one" basis with an autistic girl. She is in high school and this is a one to two year job. Until she is out of school. How life can change in a few minutes. Diane

Diane. Well done and congratulations! You will need to be organised, now! I have just gone from working 5 days to 3 and seem to have less time than before. The company are already talking of increasing my time and, although the money is very tempting, I am not sure whether I want to do it. It does help getting out and about, though. Perhaps you can make her wooden things to paint, children and adults find this very theraputic, I can vouch. That way you can combine everything. Good Luck for Tuesday and beyond. Sue |

Will definitely have to get organized and in a short period of time. This person is in high school so not a child. I am going to meet her tomorrow morning. Will tell you all about it when I come back. Diane

Good luck, Diane. My wife works 1-1 with several autistic, Asbergers, or PDDNOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified) for a living. She finds it very rewarding. If you need any help, let me know. Stephanie's actually helped several of her kids to build the coping skills they need to cease having a 1-1. Bob

Congratulations Diane. You have accepted a challenge that most people would run away from. Only special people can be offered and accept a 1-1 with a child with a disability. Enjoy your new job and don't let the turkeys get you down. george
