Ever have one of those days????? Couldn't cut a straight line or follow a pattern line today if my life depended on it...so I decided to sand some small pieces of oak on the belt sander. How did that work out for me you ask???? Not to good!!! I guess I wasn't paying attention and the piece slipped and took my fingers along for the ride... I'm ok but I won't have to clip my fingernails for a while...fingers are still a little numb...goes along with my brain. You can bet from now on...when things aren't going right I'm gonna go back to bed or play with the shop kitty. Anything but touching a power tool. P.s. speaking of shop kitty...it was funny today watching her watch 2 woodchucks in the yard...I believe that is the first time she has seen one and she really wasn't sure what to do about it. They were both bigger than she is. Oh yeah...the shelves I built for the shop yesterday are Shop Kitty Approved! Good thing I was worried there for a while. Rick

G'day Rick, Glad that belt stopped short of flesh mate. I've got one flat finger, done while I was an Apprentice on a 12' belt sander, it sure smarted. Glad shop kitty approved your work, they are fickle

Gee Rick, I guess that IS one way to get a manicure! ![]() Sorry ya had one of those days.Hopefully tomorrow will go "smoother" for ya! One of my dogs (half beagle half blue heeler) discovered a ground hog today.I (and the dog) never knew how ornery one of them could be (they look kinda cute).I heard the dog bark about two times, then he changed his tune.I ran out to find the poor mutt in a state of shock facing the hog.He learned a REAL good lesson I hope--don't go stickin yer nose in where it don't belong! (lol). He got off with a bit tongue and scratch marks on his muzzle. I even got a pic of the devil later today, no dogs in sight. Jerry c

Rick, Now you understand why I have been hesitant with my lack of concentration to play with big boy toys.....I'm glad you were not injured....Be sure to remember your advice and stay safe.

G'day Jerry, Bluey's all ways get their abilities mixed up with their abilities. Your mutt sounds like our Wazza. Bluey and Jack Russell. LOL

Thank God you weren't using the table saw.....that ground hog sure looks like the one I have around here, or maybe he went to AK for a vacation.

Did the same thing with a belt sander except it got down to drawing blood. Now keep a pair of thick gloves next to the sander. I also have those finger things you get at staples that I use for the drum sanders. Chase

A word of caution, DO NOT WEAR GLOVES AROUND MACHINERY, they can take a finger or hand into the moving belt or cutteror a drill. a freid of mine is minus a couple of fingers. |
