So what do you guys think? Are you starting to get worried, or do you think this will blow over like SARS did? I getting kind of nervous, myself. Having the media covering it 24/7 probably doesn't help, but at least the problem isn't being ignored. |

Shawn: I live in Sam Miguel De Allende Mexico {about 250 miles from Mexico City} have not heard of any cases here but have seen a few pepole wearing the masks as for me I'm not really worried about it I think it will pass but then I don't go out a lot only when I need something and then I try to do everything at the same time How ever I do think that one of these days the big one is going to get its start and then we all had better look out don't know if it will be flu or what most likely will be something that on of the great goverments around this world will develope and let loose by accident Erssel |

I'm hoping that one good thing about all the media coverage is that people will stay home if they're sick. Too many times, over the years, I've gotten sick because someone else wouldn't stay home when they should have. Kinda hard to avoid it when, by the end of the day, every door knob, coffee pot handle, telephones, etc. have that person's germs. When I was a kid, if one of us caught something at school, everyone in the family ended up with it. If you don't already do it, may I suggest keeping hand sanitizer wipes or some other type in your car. EVERYTIME you leave a store, post office, etc. use the wipes as soon as you sit down in the car. Don't open that soda you bought or light up a cig, or eat that candy bar till you've used the sanitizer. Just 2-cents this morn.

One of the best way to keep from getting sick is to always keep you hands clean, us an antibacterial soap. Make sure you wash all plates and glasses with water that is as hot as you can get it. And a can of spray disinfected.

Haven't been near a pig since I don't remember when ... oops. sorry. In all seriousness, what can you do. I diligantly wash my hands, carry antibacterial wipes in my bag, cover my face with a handkerchief when I sneeze, but I cannot make everyone else do the same! So if it comes here, then so be it. Ther is plenty of advice around as to what to do. and in the UK there appears to be quite a lot of vaccine, so it's just a "fingers crossed" exercise, methinks! Sue |

I am employee health at the local hospital. We are just making sure we have protection for our workers and screening anyone with flu like symptoms that have traveled to Mexico in the last 3 weeks. No need for panic. Just wash your hands often or use an alchol based cleaner and don't put you hands around your mouth or nose. CJ |

Well, I've been drinking beer for many, many years and have not contracted the swine flu, so I will continue to drink beer.

Unfortunately, the CDC is reporting that the seasonal flu vaccine many people got will not offer any protection against Swine Flu. Tamiflu (an antiviral medication) is reportedly working, so hopefully if there is a pandemic, countries around the world will have enough of it available. On this side of The Pond, the US stockpiled a bunch after the bird flu scare, and I think the UK did as well. But you're right, just keep those fingers crossed (and wash them alot also). | |
