Default Evie, I have a question(s) for you

I've heard you say many times that when you stack cut you hold the layers of wood together with hot glue. Please explain to me how?
How many layers do you glue together?
Where do you put the glue?
How long does the stack stay together? Is there any slippage?
How do you get them apart when you're done cutting?
Now I don't want a lesson in stack cutting, I've done enough stack cutting to know how to do it, I won't to know how to use the hot glue.
TIA
Marsha

Well I'm not Evie but maybe I can help. First its up to you how many layers you want to stack and glue. Second the glue is applied around the outside edges where the seam is. The stack stays together as long as the glue is on and there is no slippage. To remove the glue you need a heat gun to go around the edges and heat it up and peel and scrape.

Heres a post from Evie I found where she explains some more tips for glue stacking Stacking

I'm not Evie - but that is how I hold my stacks together -

Layer your wood (as many layers as you would normally stack cut).
Run the hot glue along the edges of the stack. I like to run the glue along the whole edge, but you can just run a line perpendicular to the stack if you want.
The stack will stay together as long as you leave it - No slippage once it is dried.
I usually use stack cutting to cut ornaments, so I will cut the ornament out and the "waste" wood is still held together by the glue.
If you want, you can always use a hair drier to blow hot air on the glue to help melt it to remove, or cut the glue off with a razor blade.

Hi Marsha, I just stack my wood. and use some hot glue on the sides of the stack. i first clamp my stack. then hot glue it. I glue as many layers that will need cutting. I put the glue mostly around the sides. the stack will stay together for ever. and there is no slippage.. you don't have to worry about getting them apart. couse you have cut the pieces. and they will just fall out. or you take them out. if your doing a big piece, and one part is cut. just hot glue the insides of the cuts. and clamp it down again, this will keep it tight. I have some projects that I have hot glued for one year. and still strong. you can still use the glue again, but that is another topeck. your friend Evie

Thanks alot for your replys. I've been wrapping my stack with masking tape, but I'm gonna try this on my very next stack.
Thanks

Marsha, it all works. but I do like my hot glue. just give it a try. no comitment. use alot of spring clamps. if you have them . just clamp, glue, clamp, and you have time to move the clamps. it dryes very fast. just make sure your stack is squised together, and clamp it. and move on. this can be done forevery. the fun thing is, the stack doesn't have to be plum on the sides. hot glue just goes inbetween the groves. cool stuff. and after your all done. you can just use a hair dryer. to get the glue off. and save the wood. and the glue. your friend Evie

I don't even use clamps most of the time - just hold the pieces together with my fingers.

Yea how do you reuse hot melt glue?????? How do you get it back in the round shape again. OK do you just heat it up again and stick it were you want it????? I don't remember what i paid for My packs of glue but I don't think it was all that much to take the time to try to save already used glue
