Default Monday again 2009

G'day to all,
Hope you had a great week and survived the festive season OK.

I haven't been doing much in the shed as it's been to bloody hot.
The past week has all been over 35c (95f) and yesterday was a 42c (108f) phew.
Just glad for aircons., I don't know how the pioneers did it, or us for that matter, as when we where kids aircons where unheard of.

Any how of to the Big Smoke on Wednesday to say G'day to the folks and, if I can overcome the anxiety of driving in all the traffic, (or convince the better half to chauffeur) visit a couple of tool shops so as to hopefully return home with a few new toys

A Drum sander would be nice, but that depends on the damage it will cause

Have a great week and stay safe everyone.

I love my performax sander, just be sure if you get one of these, you have some sort of dust collection method in mind as well, it is needed with these.

Have a great week John, hope you get your new toys. I love the quotes, esp. the Foxworthy one.

Hello John and the rest of you.

I am so glad to be a part of this board, I'm thankful our fine magazine and the publisher take the time and effort to provide this board.

You all are the greatest and I hope this is the best week of 2009 for all of you.

Charlie, hope things are looking up today!

Hello John,

Good luck on your shopping trip. We could use some of your heat up here in Michigan. We are supposed to get hit with an Arctic blast starting tomorrow. Daytime temperatures are only expected to be in the low single digits and well below zero at night.

John, you definately are a bright spot of the day. I was at Timber machinery and they had a Jet drum sander that is going out of production for $900. I had to beg my wife to let me spend $40 on a router bit. I'd be sleeping in the garage if I brought home a drum sander.

OK John, I am a bit envious. It is very cold here, about 17f. Supposed to get colder maybe single digits tonight. We are getting some of that cold air that Al is getting in Michigan. I hope you found some nice treasures to bring home from your little outing. I would love a drum sander. We need an update..What did you get?

Happy Monday to all. John good luck on your tool shopping and try to leave a few to the other woodworkers.

This Monday morning I found myself on an airplane heading to another space center to do some testing and training. We are scheduled to be here for one week but have been told it could be two weeks. As I left this morning, I waved good bye to the wife and kids and kissed the saw!! I sure will miss her....

Well, we survived the festive season - hubby was ill Christmas eve and Christmas Day. I held out until New Year's Day, but we still did the usual things, Christmas at home with friends and family, Boxing Day with friends, then New Year's Day with lots of friends in Whitby, on the North East coast.

So, after 2 weeks off, I got back to work on 5th to learn that the centre at which I am based is closing and everyone is under threat of redundancy! Not necessarily due to the credit crunch, I think it would have happened anyway. As I work regionally, I should still have a job, but may be asked to relocate unless I can persuade them to allow me to work from home.

Lots to consider, although it has happened to me before and I know that things work themselves out - it just leaves me in turmoil at present, especially knowing that many of my colleagues are in a far worse position than I. Some live on centre, and will lose their homes, others have more than one family member working here, which will result in the loss of all the household income and, in this economic climate, there are fewer jobs available than normal.

Fingers crossed for everyone.

Sue

Sue,

I wish you the best on that job situation. My company is going thru some tuff times right now also. Everything is up in the air, we will just have to see where the chips fall. Like you I am concerned with what will happen, but I do know things will work out for the good.

I'm thinking of you and wishing you the best.
