Default Electric bill question

I have been carving for about 7 Months. Scrolling for about 4 Month. I have a Grizzly Bandsaw a Dremel Scrollsaw saw and a sander.

When I am scrolling I usually have a regular vacuum cleaner attached to the dust port. This past month I was able to scroll like 4 to 5 Hours 4 times a week. Now I recieved my Electric bill this month and notice that it was twice what it used to be. Can this be because of all the scrolling I have been doing? If it is I had no idea how much more expensive the electric bill was going to be......

I hate to say this but I am going have to maybe scroll a little less and carve a little more..............

Anyone notice this????????????

Simplyme, check to see if they "ESTIMATED" the meter reading. My last bill was more than a hundred dollars higher than last months. Then I see they had estimated it and they always estimate it high. I would like to send them a check for a lot less and write "ESTIMATE PAYMENT". I don't seem to notice any difference when I use the saw a lot but I only run the vacuum after I am done sawing.

Same here. I run the vacuum after I'm finished. My bill is no higher. And I run the drill press and the table saw and the router and the belt sander. And sometimes the planer.

I found that I can't hear myself think with a vacuum running constantly. But I did buy a big "sucker" just for the mess I make.

I haven't noticed a large increase. Do you perhaps have a heated shop that you weren't using before? Heaters are typically on 220v and use quite a bit of power.

Yeah, they are probably estimating. Our electric bill is quite a bit higher this month also, but it's was much colder last month than in Nov. here in KY.

They always raise our bill around this time of year and tell us it is from all of the Christmas lights. Funny thing is we do not have a single Christmas light up. But the bill is still quite a bit higher. Steve

for me, I don't have the swamp coolers running. and it gets dark faster. so I don't do shop at night. to cold in my shop. but some one told me one time. that a refrigerator. and frizzer run harder in the winter , than the summer. ??? don't know for sure. but I do know we watch more tv, and have more lights on in the winter. my bill is lower. i think because there is less shop time. 2 shopes actuwaly. so don't know. your friend Evie

Has anyone considered the extra cost of your Christmas tree and decorations? They are a lot more than you think.

The vacuum more than likely takes more electric than the saw does.

I don't ever notice any change in my bill, I only run my Vaccum after cutting just to clean up.
