Default Antler Tip Key Rings

Don't discard those antler tips when cutting blanks for pens. I hate to think of how many times I discarded a bunch before someone (can't remember name due to senior moment) on WWF showed key rings made with them.
I finally got time to try a few this afternoon.

Should make a nice combination gift set and combination gifts mean combination $ $ $ 's for turners.

Shown here is a hunters special with 30.06 cartridge and deer antler pen with deer antler key ring.

That really is nifty Bill! I save them all too, but when I ended up with a whole little box of about 5lbs of them, I went and sold them on ebay for $20. DOH!!! So..where'd you buy your key hardware?

Jeff;
I use kits similar as shown here except these are PSI kits.
Penn State Kit
But they also have identical looking kits for just $1.29 each and are quite satisfactory for this application.
I just use part of the kit. Don't need the brass tube and end pice . Those pieces will probably come in handy for something else some time.
The 7mm tubes are just a tiny bit longer than slimline pen tubes so a touch on the disc sander brings them right on. Nice to have spares.

At $1.29 for kits and a very quick and easy product to make, the selling price of $8.00 each adds up to a nice profit margin. It's little things like this that pay for the price of craft sale tables shortly after the opening time of the sale.

I made my deer pens with the tip on the top part. Is a great way for hunters too remember. It was hard trying to find the right area to drill but once I did, it all worked. Was a little longer than most pens but it sure makes conversation.
Nice job on the key chains.

That looks very nice and I can see how it could easily be done with an ordinary slim line kit .
Not suitable for a pocket pen but would make a real nice desk pen.

That kind would look nice displayed in a holder something like this one I made for a fella that bought half a dozen pens from me and requested a desk stand for them.
