We have some around here to. they seem to be getting more populated here now when i was a kid we had one that hung around the house for several years then it just dissapeared now there are a few of them. I have seen them attack other birds in mid air for what seemed like no reason, but i guess everything has its reason for happening.

nice pics.

Dave, from birder friends I understand that they are not uncommon up on Kittatinny Mtn. although I have never seen one there myself. My wife and I did have the pleasure of seeing them wild in Alaska when we cruised there in 2000. They are magnificant birds! Thanks for posting.

Bald eagles are beautiful birds, as are all birds of prey (my opinion). They are my absolute favorites in the animal kingdom. And to think our choice for a national emblem was almost a turkey! Praise the Lord our forefathers had enough sense to choose the bald eagle instead. Can you imagine adorning our tables with stuffed eagle?? Or the turkey as a symbol of our military might?

Default Bald Eagle

Hi,

That was certainly a rare treat. Though they were once found all over this country, human habitation has been pushing them out.

We saw several flying along the shores when we went on an Alaskcan cruise and they are stunning.

Here in our area we have a lot of Red Tailed Hawks. I love watching them soar in graceful circles as they hunt.

We are getting a lot of them on the west side of Puget Sound. One of the local golf courses has several man made lakes that they offer Catch and Release fishing (for a fee of course!!) they lose so many fish to the eagles it has become a budget item to replace the fish!! Great place to go golf and watch eagles catch fish!! When they scream about time you are going to putt makes it interesting though!!!

The last eagle I saw was on September 11 at about 9:30 a.m., it felt like an omen. I was walking through the parking lot, stopped to talk to the company president and saw it circling above us. We also have a number of Red-Tailed Hawks and Peregrine Falcons, deer and coyotes in the area. Seems odd to see them in the downtown area right outside Chicago.

Very kewl pics Dave. I've seen a couple around here lately as well as a few peregrine falcons. Seems they're making a comeback in the Northeast (now, if they would just wait long enough for me to get my camera!).
