Default ScrollSaw & Friendship

Hello All, this weekend I had the pleasure to meet 'missyintx' and her sweet daughter. As Missy and family were going to be in Prescott, AZ. for the weekend I extended an invitation to come to our Prescott Wood Bee Carver meeting on Saturday.
What a pleasure to meet missy and her darling very smart young daughter. It was a pleasure to introduce Missy and daughter to our club members. I had asked Missy to bring along some of her scrollings to share with us. Some of which you see here in this grouping from her thread on this site. http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/bra...tion/16931.htm
It's always great to be able to actually see our members work in person. Photographs are great, but seeing the scrollings in person is much better. Missy does really nice work and was such an inspiration for me.
Millie brought along a surprise for me, a Christmas Hanging I was so pleased and honored to receive such a wonderful gift. I'd like to share it with you and One I will always cherish.
So, thank you ScrollSaw Message board for helping me to meet a new friend in person. I hope at some point to be able to meet more of you in person too.
Best,
KathyRo

Isn't it wonderful meeting your "virtual friends" Kathy?

Sue Chrestensen and I met back in 2004, through her scrollsaw forum and it's been a journey ever since.

Hope you and missyintx develop a great friendship.

Take care
Toni

Did a face to face with Neal Moore back in September and we had a great time swapping stories (and beverages). In amateur radio, we call such meetings "eyeballs" and they are just as enjoyable for scrollers as they are for hams.

I hope to meet more of the friends I've made on this board, but JohnB, I'd have a hard time getting the wife on the plane for that long!

Default New life in old events

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the recent merger of the forums puts new life into those annual scrollsaw picnics? I've heard there's been a steady decline in attendance for a number of reasons - fuel costs being one.

When we can get together daily and plan events, talk with others who want to attend, and have the support of Fox Chapel/SSWC I can only imagine good things happening for the scroll saw picnics and events.

Take care
Toni

Great story Kathy....I have met several people in the past years I never would have met if it had not been for forums.

Best meeting ever was my wife whom I met on the internet in December of 98...Yep and we are still best friends oh yeah and still married....

LOL, Mike and I too enjoyed your story. I for the most part have found the internet very enjoyable. I try not to dwell on it's negatives, I made to many wonderful friends and learned so much.

Hi Toni, big fan of your work, and thank you for your comments also. You truely made a life-long friend and I know Missy and I will keep in touch.

Hi Jim, thank you too--neat to hear you are a ham operator, we have quite a group of hams in our area. As my hubby is part of the Yavapai Sheriff's 4X4 Search & Rescue and Search Dog Unit, we have radio's laying around. Every once in a while I'll listen to the hams chatting mostly the 'nobby knee net'. Funny guys, but I'm sure very much the Pro's when called upon to assist with communications in time of need.
Thanks again,
KathyRo

G'day Jim,
Do it NOW mate, I'll give you about $1.50 au for every one of yours.

Being on a plane for that length of time is one of my problems. I'd love to visit the US and Ireland, but being cooped up for that long is rather scary. Especially since I've been crook,

Maybe one day, the wife's long service is due.

Thanks everyone, for your comments and stories everyone super. We have plans for England next year and I'm not looking forward to the long flight either. But the friends waiting across the pond are well worth it! They have been to see us twice, so it way past our turn to visit them.

Kathy
Maybe while you're over there, you could possibly steal a little time and do an eyeball on some of our British friends that frequent these parts on a regular basis.

I know I'd love to pick Gill's brain for a few hours and watch him work and JigSue always has something to add to the tips--so, I guess for now we can all have a cyber connection.
