Default Weekend of fishing

I spent my weekend without adult supervision or kids so I took my new boat out for some fishing. It was a great weekend and the fish were biting pretty good. Here is a pic of one, it measured 35 inches, took about 10 minutes to get it to the boat and we almost flipped my boat over trying to land it. I caught four others like this one but only two were keepers. We are allowed to keep one a day and they have to measure between 18 and 27 inches. It was a nice relaxing weekend.

G'day Andy,
Looks like you had a great day mate. That catch makes the one in your avatar look like tiddler

Thanks for bringing that up John, I fixed it now. Yes the old avatar fish was 26" so the 35" made it look like a baby.

Tom, I just sneak in when the caretakers are on a lunch break and snag a few nice ones just for the pics.

WD, the life jacket was hanging on the seat back. The law says it needs to be in the boat and it was in the boat. Of course, if I fell out, all I would need to do would be to stand up. The water depth where we fish is 3' or less.

Grover, I have had too many of those days like you had but just being out in the nice weather makes it better.

Default nice fish...

new boat?
I've seen those fishing guys from Florida on TV with those high platform boats that they push around with a long pole.

Trout,
My wife and kids gave me a Gheenoe as a gift to cover several occasions. It is a boat built right here in my city and it is a cross between a boat and canoe. Very nice small boat.

The fishing that you see on TV is called Flats Fishing and the guy on the platform is poling the boat around to keep things quiet while looking for the red drum (They are a very skittish fish)in the shallow water. It is a popular way of fishing here. One of my friends has a boat with the platform on it. My boat is too small for the platform.
