Default Grizzly tools verses Canada.

I sent them a note the other day asking about shipping tools to Canada. I just got a reply.
"Due to an agreement with a Canadian company we "cannot" ship orders into Canada."
But we offer options. Yeah 3 pages of crap about what they won't do including accepting phone orders and credit cards to have it shipped to a US freind. Ect. Ect....
And on page 4..." Confidentiality notice. This email transmission is for the exculsive and confidential use of the recipient and any other distribution or use is not authorized and strictly prohibited. If you are not the designated recipient, you are hearby notified that any disclosure, copying, distribution or reliance upon the contents of this email is strictly prohibited. If you have recieved this email in error, please reply to sender, so that we can arange for proper delivery and then delete the message.Thank you."

Now I relize that with a brain injury I am not the brightest person in the room. But This really pisses me off. A-Busy Bee does not sell the tool I want to buy. B- its a sander folks, this reply I would of expected from NASA if I had tried to buy the Shuttle or other stuff from them.
And the conditions they impose to get a shipper to get tools here is just plain insulting.
I have bought several machines from them in the past and have gone down there to pick them up. the money saved paid for the trip. At that time it was just company policy that they would not ship outside the US. But now they advertise they ship internationally. Except to Canada.
Maybe a Canuck dumped a load in the CEO's cereal, but this is nuts.

Thumbs down Grizzly Tools verses Canada { What a bummer }

I would think if they would ship it out of the country it would be to Canada before another Country since its next door to the USA. Sorry Alan for the trouble, for I don"t understand this bull crap either. For I love my Grizzly Tools that I have, just maybe things may change in the future!! Marshall

G'day Alan,
That is one mucked up email.

To have all of that legal bull*&^&, it smacks of someone sailing very close to the wind.

If this happened within the same country, eg, having an agreement with another Co to not sell in certain areas they would get pinged big time, especially in Oz.

Here Companies can not negotiate on each others prices, areas of business, or market share.
There have been instances of millions of dollars in fines imposed for those caught.

Seems like Grizzly is just hiding behind borders.

Alan,

I can't comment on Grizzley's position of not shipping to Canada, but as to the "Confidentiality notice" at the end of their email; that kind of text is often at the end of e-mails from large corporations. It is nothing more than standard legal boilerplate to cover the possibility of an e-mail being sent to the wrong person (something I expect many of us have done at least once).

Ahh free trade. Nafta at its best!
Sounds like some executive somewhere made a mistake and got caught with their pants down.

I wonder if it could be shipped to a brokerage firm and then up to Canada.

Alan:

It is true. There is some sort of restriction on Grizzly tools from shipping to a Canadian address. The USA friend shipping / receiving drop point is a blatant bypass of the restriction.

I agree with Carl, NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement treaty) is at work here. Somewhere, somehow, someway, but NAFTA is there.

Alan,

We (those of us in the US) have decided to cut off you Canadians from all quality tools. Grizzly is just the first, more will fall to our evil plan soon enough. I can't say why we've come up with this plan other than we want to be the mightiest scrollers in the world! (insert evil laugh here)

John B, you guys are next

I talked to the Prime Minister today and he is going to cut all rxports of Energy to the US for one week. That is 1/3 of all your energy needs. A trade war over a sander. It does sound like something the political idiots would do.

It's good news if you ask me. Now you can focus on buying General tools, which is a Canadian Company. Their prices are pretty good and their quality is superior to Grizzly, and I think most of the machine is made in Canada!

Alan...don't even suggest it or the bombers will be airborn before you sumbit the message. A trade embargo will not stop us from getting our oil from you, sad as that sounds.

There is 2 companies in the General barn. General tools Canada and they make top of the line tools in Canada. General International makes their tools overseas and you get what you pay for.
I allways try to buy local but for example the Grizzly drum sander I bought several years ago was $189 and General Tools made the same style of machine. their price was $1700 and then you hade to buy the sanding drums.
But the main point in all this is that Busy-Bee and General do not make the Drum/Flap sander that Grizzly sells.

And Jeff, sad as that sounds most Canadains belive that would happen if we turned the taps off.

Alan.

PS> the last time the US invaded Canada they got wupped and the Presidents house got burnt done. The rebuilt it and painted it white. Of course that was back when they played with bows and arrows and flintlocks so it is possible the outcome would be different today. LOL.
