Could it be the pieces that fall out when doing a Zaffino pattern? LOL

A hand spoke shave or draw knife , rounding off a square piece of wood into a round . Like making a sailboat mast with hand tools . I would almost venture at a stretch that some animal is making a nest .

well I would guess a planer, jointer, whitch I know is a differant machine, than a thickness planer. I always use a planer, jointer first, to get the bottom flat. if you put a piece through a thickness planer without one side being flat, the thickness planer will follow the rippale if it has one. just my thoughts. and the saveings from a thickness planer, is a bigger mess. and normally smaller shavings. just my observations. your friend Evie. I know, you say jointer planer, hoho.

Well those of you who posted it is from a planer......you've got it correct.
JohnB is the "winner" though, because it is from placing the wood short grain sideways as he said.
I hot glued a small piece to a sled not being careful of the grain direction.
Live and learn to be more conscious of the grain.
Glad I use that planer outside.........what a mess it makes.

WD,
I only knew the answer, because I've been there, done that, and got the Tshirt to prove it LOL

I was planing down 10" squares and not paying attention and put one in sideways.......sure does make a mess
