Default Iwf 2008

I just returned from the IWF 2008 in Atlanta. My son is a marketing graphic artist for Delta/Porter Cable. He took me and I got a VIP name tag for the Delta/Porter Cable booth.
Scott Phillips of PBS, was demonstrating their new Delta Unisaw. A great new tool, but I will stay with my old Delta. Wednesday was a slow day and I got to spend lots of time with him. He has extensive scroll saw experience. I got many tips and he is going to send me patterns.
Don Russell, woodturner and instructor at the Campbell School, was also demonstrating Delta wood lathes. He had a turned table with a fretwork top that was beautiful. All his students at the Campbell School made one in his last turning class. He is also an avid scroll sawer. He, Scott and I got to spend about 30 minutes, together, talking about scrolling, with me mostly listening and questioning.
It seems like all woodworkers are the finest, humblest, and most sharing people I have ever met.
It makes me proud to be a woodworker, even though I'm not very good.
I thought I would share a great experience with you. Not to brag, but to tell you how much I respect the great qualities of all woodworkers. Thanks.

Wow! What a lucky man you are, spending time at the show and with your son to boot!! Must have been a blast, most of us would love to get inside one of those!
