Default First Try with 30.06 Rifle Cartridge Pens

Decided to give a couple rifle cartridge pens a first try after lunch today . They actually came out better than I expected.
There are a LOT of hunters in my area so I expect these will be very good sellers just before Christmas with hunters wifes buying them for gifts for their hunter husbands.
Top one is fiddle back maple and the other one is bleached deer antler.
The rifle clips should be a big hit with the hunters.

Those are really nice, esp. with the rifle clips. I know they would go over good with some of the guys I know.

Bill,
Did you preserve the brass or leave it natural?

And, is there a special kit for those?

They are really cool.

It is so new to me that I am getting some good ideas on my own site about preserving the the brass rather than leaving it natural. Can't comment on that until I get the details finalized.

Yes, there are kits available (which I used ) and some machine their own shell blanks to fit various kits .

And I though someone had a new drilling technique.

They are very sharp looking. Would be a great addition for a pen collector, or someone who just wants a different piece.

You sure are right about that . It was less than three hours that I showed them on a couple sites that one of my pen collector customers way down in Texas ordered one of them.

I think I am on to something good here. I have viewed this type of pen made by others but never got too interested in them . Probably because I am not a hunter .
Now I am glad I tried a few and will make more before my next craft sale.
