Janette,
I'm guilty, Sometimes I'll read something and think Nah you can't do that, but then the devil gets in me and I've just got to try it.

Like that quip regarding the red necks , Most accidental deaths start with the words "Heyall watch this" LOL

Reminds me of the vampire who flew back to the cave in the middle of the night with blood all over his hands. Of course, all the other vampires were jealous and wouldn't stop pestering him about where he found all the blood. Giving in to their questions he told them to follow him so they all flew off into the night. He stopped, perched on top of a barn, turned to his fellow vampires and said "see that saw blade down there?". They all replied "yes" and he said, "good, because I didn't!"

LOL

Bandaid good, ducttape better but slippery. Personally I use crazy glue. A little dab to cover the cut or split and it seals it up. Just don't touch it to anything while it dries or you will find out why it's called permanent.

The "putting your finger on the blade" trick is only to convince somebody the scroll saw is safe. A casual touching is no problem. Pushing with your finger in line with the blade and having the wood jump will get you. From the voice of experience. I always say that if you cut yourself with a scroll saw you were: in a hurry, stupid, deliberately trying - for me it is usually all three. While the scrollsaw is the safest power tool in the shop it still has the word saw in it. I am learning to keep my fingers from pushing directly into the blade. Unless I am in a hurry, stupid or knowing I will cut myself.

Thankfully, I haven't had the pleasure of using natural red stain on any of my wood....Yet. However, I have had many manicures that I didn't really care for. <g>

I heard once the saw has tasted human blood it hungers for more.
