It is my understanding that in a war zone, duct tape is the bandage of choice.

Gosh, I have cut myself also. but mostly on the bigger blades, that make the wood jump. I keep my fingures pretty close to the blade. and on a big piece of wood, and big blade, added to some warp or just jumping around (SLAM, DUNK) that will get me eather cut or pinched for sure.

Bob, I do the same thing. most folks are scared at first, till I show them if they put their fingure in the back or sides of the blade, it wont cut, only in the front of the blade. but I have been corrected here for teaching that. Ha, I still do. but also inclued the jumping thing. and bigger blades. I get pinched more thank cut. \

my mettad of a bandaid is a rolled up piece of tolit papper. raped around my owy, that works till the bleading stops. and obsorbs the blood. and is very steral. getting cut is such a bother. but doesn't stop me at all. just makes me more cairfull. now on the band saw. that will take off a fingure quick. don't even go near the blade. or that table saw. yikes. I have a don't go there zone. and with a kid or untraind person. I even put a piece of tape on the saw. don't pass this point. EVER. and were Eye protection. tolit paper, just don't heal that. your friend Evie

Every true craftsman had sacrificed a bit of blood and skin to the Skin God from time to time for succeessfull completion of projects. This is true and one of the everlasing truths.

I have a lot of respect for ANY macine or tool that can take off body parts.
I work in a place that for 28 years has pounded super safety into our heads I guess some of it has actually sunk in.
Now ladders and abrupt stops on the wooden deck is something I am familiar with. 5 hours to put my arm back together.

I cut my self the other day with the saw off (I thought my dewalt arm was down when it wasn't). I came in and asked my wife where the band-aids were, and she started freaking out. I told her that she doesn't have to be worried when I'm on the scrollsaw and ask for a band-aid, it's when I'm on the bandsaw and come in asking for a bag of ice and a ride to the hospital that she has to worry....needless to say, she was not amused.

I admit it, I have cut myself with the scroll once as well. Doing the chess set, just like Bob said, it got wedged in there and sure enough. But it hurt my pride more than anything.

Cool Cut

Real men dont get cuts or nicks, there called showing pride in workmanship, a few blood stains adds charcter to your piece, bandaids are for sissy, real men use duct tape

I've cut myself a couple of times on the scroll saw. Both times when doing compound cutting at shows, with people watching me demo. The blade was dull both times and I had only a little more to cut on the pieces. Left thumb the first time, right thumb the second time. I know..........should have learned the first time. The blade came out through the side of the wood (pushing too hard with the blade dull). Both were nasty cuts, but no one knew I had cut myself either time ........except my wife who about flipped. I just got up from the saw and said I'll be right back. Used CA glue to "seal" them up.....it works really well for cuts.........burns a bit, but it sure seals the cuts closed tight together very quickly. Went right back to cutting as if nothing had happened.

Ok I have to ask....how many of you KNOW that you can put your finger against a scroll saw blade because you just had to try it to see !!?? Personally, I know it can draw blood - which is why I like to try to keep my finger nails longer because it will cut them before reaching my finger - but...when I sand...all the fingernails go, then what do I do!?
