| Sorry...I should have warned you about that. All but one or two of my plugins have updates...

Be careful if you rely on Firefox v2.x plug-ins; Firefox v3 may not support them!

| I have been so used to Internet Explorer 7 for so many years that I have been reluctant to try something like Firefox 3 that Bob likes.
What happens if I download it ? Do I still have a choice to switch from IE to Firefox to compare and see which works best for me on my computer ? .
Does Firefox have the tabbing system like IE7 ? I sure would not want to be without that after finding how usefull it is since IE6 upgraded to IE7 .
I am not sure what the plugins issue is all about . Maybe a little too technical for me ? . Is that something that an average user can overcome or could it become a problem for me ?

| William,
You can run Firefox and IE at the same time. Firefox actually developed the tabbed browsers, and IE adapted it for their software.
What I like a lot about Firefox is that you can pick and choose any number of plugins. I have one that allows me to drag and drop an attachment into Google mail and one (not updated for 3 yet) that automatically corrects common misspellings in URLs.
You do not have to install any plugins; they are optional for specific tasks.
Now that I've used it for a few more hours, I also noticed that it doesn't seem to clog my RAM like 2.x did.

| Thanks Bob.
I googled on it without downloading and read the specs on it .
Looks good and I think I will give it a try .

| It's technically safer than IE as well. Most browser-based virus attacks are designed for IE. Since people are beginning to use firefox more, there are some browser-based attacks for Firefox, but not anywhere near as many.

| I use Firefox 3.0 and a cable modem. No problem with speed or error messages.

| If you decide to use Firefox, the plug-ins can be very useful. One which I found particularly useful with the previous version was the facility to download whatever website I was viewing as a complete PDF file. I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox this evening and found it no longer worked, but there does seem to be an alternative plug-in which I've installed and seems to be okay.
With Firefox 3, go to Tools - Add-ons and a new small window will open. Click on Get Add-ons and a list of recommended plug-ins will be displayed. At the top of the list is a link to 'browse all add-ons'. Click on that link and a new tab will open, taking you to a website where you can pick and choose which plug-ins you want. I searched under 'pdf' and I've installed a plug-in called 'printpdf' which seems to be a good alternative to the pdf downloader I had before.
There are all sorts of plug-ins available and I love having a dictionary which checks my spelling when posting on internet forums.
