Default I Hate Computers

No, that wasn't an 8.0 earthquake everyone felt around 2 EST on Wednesday, it was me letting Best Buy know what I think of them. Seems my computer came back to the store, and had the very same problem it was sent out for!! I never even touched it and it was broke again. They found it testing it at the store before I picked it up. So sorry, it will be another 2 weeks to be fixed. The nicest thing I said was "unacceptable" then went on from there. Hung up, called them back for round 2. I told them I wanted it sent out Next Day air, fixed and returned to me by Saturday. He said that he couldn't do that and my response was "Can't or won't?" It was then he said I could have a loaner, (which I am using now), gee they should have offered it to me 3 weeks ago. I was then informed my computer might be junked! I said not without a total back up it won't and I want the harddrive back. Can't do it. Again, can't or won't? No reason to send back the harddrive, they destroy it. My comment, don't trust anyone WANT IT BACK and I won't take no for an answer. And the back up, I did better not knowing what I was doing!! So if it gets junked, I get a brand new computer, which unfortunately has VISTA on it and I don't get all the stuff as they didn't back it up properly. Of course, the computer I want is pretty neat, just touch the screen and stuff happens!! All the stuff is in the screen, only ONE cord, not the 12 I now have. Anyway, the computer arrived last night at the repair facility (thought he couldn't do it?) they are looking at it today and will have an answer by tomorrow. If they can fix it, it will be returned to me by Monday or Tuesday, or junked and I get a new one. Did I tell anyone I hate computers?

Betty

All of us can feel your pain. There is nothing worse than a computer horror story

I will call and yell at them for you if it will help

Two Weeks to get a repair?????
Two WEEKS????

Where are they shipping it to? Texas??

Parts should be drawn from a local warehouse, using local techs. Maybe Consolidated repair up in Hunt Valley North of Baltimore, but give me a break. And then they tell you they damaged the HD trying to repair the computer? Are they using On-The-Job-Trainees for the repair?

My full and deepest sympathy and empathic heartfelt support for you in dealing with Best Buy. Since VISTA came out, I have read rumors about Best Buy service reputation going down hill.

Wasn't that computer repair company Geek Squad tied into Best Buy? Be aware Geek Squad sells a remote backup service where you set up a backup to their server on the Internet. However, there is no company policy of requiring a warrant before they hand over your backups to anyone claiming to be law enforcement with, or without, a valid reason to search your backup.

It was in the shop for the second motherboard replacement. Came back, same problem so they obviously didn't fix it. My back up is on CDs so I have them. And no it didn't go to Texas, just Kentucky!! And it has the windows before Vista, we got it right before Vista came out. Did I tell everyone I hate computers>

[b]Betty : this a night mare for you I know, with all the run around. You know my brother-in-law told me a sour story about his dealings with Best buy and your the second one that I've heard bad stuff happening too. I;m going to stay away from this place, My brother-in-law is a pastor with the same more or less problems you had with them, hope it works out for you. Good Luck Marshall[/B ]

Puters are one thing I know very little bout but they can be a real pain. Now try Delta P-20 ( black & Decker tells me they no longer carry or have parts anymore for it . So to the wise order the parts that you think you might need before they run out of them . I ordered extra belts, acorn nuts, bolts, and that little wisher that holds the blade in. Still haven t gotten any of them yet but the are out of the bolt right now.that is the 3.5 mm one for the acorn not . Cheap butterfly outfit is all I can say and still be able to come to board. hahaha Jerry

Cool Computers

Three things to know about about computers, first give to a 5 year old kid, they know more about running the darn thing then ill never know, second never take it to get fixed, most time its the regeserty gets a bad file 55 bucks will get you a regersty cleaner, non returnable, or get a nice softwear adware -virus cleaner, thats all they do in these rip off joints (bestbuy) and beyound, then charge you 66 for labor, so let see , um im guess they um charge you 150 first time 234 the second time, labor 78, pretty close to what you coulda went to wall-mart and bought a new one for 598 and woulda have your provlem solved and runnng next day,but anthor tip , never opean any mail or any file you dont whos from, this pc i'm on now i found in the dumpster, i ran the test on it as they do in best buy and dump it it all out, i heard bads things about vista, so ill stay with my ex pro, and reloaded up exp pro back on it, been running fine for two years, so yes im a dumpster diver, but i got a free pc

You can get those 3.5 cap head screws in most big box hardware stores. Finding the square nuts is a another story altogether, since the shoulders are so much larger than a standard square nut of similar diameter. (Even tried to fashion one from a corner reinforcer, Dremel and tap and die set.

I had to retire my original Delta when the air pump outlet broke off and there are no more of that part. Parts are getting scarce for the Deltas.

I've been in the IT field for almost 15 years so...

1) Don't send your computer to get fixed, take it to a local store perferbly an independent one, especially if you have sensative stuff on it.
2) Best Buy, Dell, etc. recycle computers so if you buy a new computer it's only new to you.
3) They don't do a good job destroying hard-drives (they put a drill through the middle), but a pro can still get the information off
4) There is no number 4
5) backup, backup, backup - don't forget this technology is new.

Don't give up, computers are wonderful tools.
