G'day all,
Well, looks like I'll be locking myself in the shed for the next 2 weeks. A chance to get a lot done.
My wife is TV Sports nut and the Olympics are like heaven for her. Me, I only watch Doco's and movies, as Sports bore me to tears (With the exception of some car racing and Rodeo and occasionally boxing)

Not to worry though my brother loaned me about a dozen books, so if it gets a bit cold in the shed, I've something to do LOL.

You got room in there for 2 John? My wife couldn't care less for most sports, but when the Olympics come on that's all she watches.

John, I am with you. sports just bore me to death. I do like the skying, and olypics, and some nascar is ok in small amounts, but wood rather watch a good move, or something that teachs me something. I am a star tric junkie though. and I love Rfd. the horse and ag channle. also the crafts channles. but then I have my own tv in my sewing room and bed room so hubby can watch his stuff, and I watch mine.
he has a tv in his shop, but for me, i like music, so i only have a radio in mine. or just plane old quit. I love solitude. and I have tons, and tons of books, to enspire me to be creative. keep cool. woops I forgot it is winter there right . dang. I miss winter right now. it is sooooooo hot, hear. oh ya, I do love to read the forum. so I will be there to talk at ya. your friend Evie

I'm bored to tears by the Olympics already and they haven't even started yet! Even when they're finished, they won't be over for us because our media's attention will home in on the 2012 venue... London.

Mercy!

Gill

PS At least some good came out of London's successful bid. My husband bought a tee-shirt which read:
The cost of staging the 2012 Games...BILLIONS
Beating the French... PRICELESS

I like the winter games, the summer ones just don't toot my horn ether. But my wife loves them. Go figure she can't stand sports. But Im not crazy about sports either, a little NASCAR every now and then. I got burn out on the Friday night high school foot ball when my son played. He started in the grade 7. Every week, no matter what the weather.

Not a big sports fan either, but John - you must enjoy watching the World's Strongest Man competition?

I also took time out of the shop last night to watch the opening ceremonies and I have to say I'm glad I did....

Isn't the Olympics for armature competition?
why is it that we have "Pro" basketball players on our US team?

I watched about half of the opening ceremony, but got pretty bored with it. Some great effects etc but 2 hours of it was a bit much.
Being rather parochial, I did come back in to watch the last few minutes when we marched into the arena

Trout, I always thought the same thing, but I think the East Germans and Russians stuffed that up when they set up special academy's for athletes. I think it's now open slather.
