| She's a beauty, Evie, and with distinctive plumage which means your first photo could easily become a wonderful segmentation/intarsia/marquetry project.
You've got such a rare affinity with our natural friends - it's great to see .

| Beautiful bird indeed. I would venture to guess that she is probably a he though. As bright as the orange is and the distinct yellow coloring of the face, it's most like a he. The female grey cockatiels usually have a very dull orange and the face is more grey with just a tad of yellow showing up. Cockatiels make GREAT pets and can be trained to do some amazing things. I used to raise, breed and train birds and they really can bring a lot of joy and companionship. Congrat's to you.
Andy

| It appears in great health, and looks content in its new home.I would suggest you also watch your local newspaper classifieds lost and found ads.It quite possibly is someones lost loved one that escaped. Recently someone near me lost an African Grey Parrot, and when someone caught it, they called me wondering if it was our parrot, and although it wasnt mine, I was able to point them to the family that was agonizing over their lost bird.

| Dale, I will do just that. He , she does have a band on one foot. could that tell me something??? I am with you, I would hate to lose such a wonderfull bird. so I will do my best to find its real owner. when we cought the yellow headed amazon. no one clamed him. he was somthing for shur. but just to much cometment for me. they love to bond with some one, or of its own kind. and I just didnt wont to do that. for ever. 25 or more years. mmmm.
Andy, I would love to hear more on your training expertize. I had a cockateil onece before. and just loved the bird, she uesd to set on my sholder. and eat my food out of my plate. God forbed I refused her. she was the boss for sure. sang lots of pretty songs. humon songs. anyway. I will do what ever to find the owner first. I hate to keep this pretty in a small cadge. so I will work with her/him, every day to get it to come out and play with the rest of us kids. your friend Evie |

| Evie, leg bands are usually put on by a wildlife service or birding organization of some kind that tracks wild birds. Sometimes they are put on by owners of very valuable birds. Look at the band carefully and you should see a phone number (and maybe a name) as well as the ID number of the bird. Call them and they will be happy.

| If you don't find his/her owner maybe you could teach her to ride your new pony.
Now that is a picture I sure would like to see. You are one amazing person Evie. God love ya.

| Do they ingect chips into birds and other pets that can disapear over the fence. Chance has one, any vet and some dog pounds have a reader that can read the code in the chip using a wond. Sort of like the grocery checkout.
I have allways tatooed my dogs when they get spayed and now use the chip as well.
Cheap if or when it works.
