Hello!!! Yes, It has been a busy month for me. I havent logged on in a couple weeks.I just logged on tonight, and theres been a massive amount of posts I've missed...24 full pages of messages since my last log in. I dont have time to catch up reading them all like I'd like to, but just catching up on the last three pages.Since the Ohio trip, we had our county fair, of which my entries all did great.I entered 11 things in woodworking, and recieved 8 blue ribbons, 1 red ribbon, and 2 white ribbons. More importantly, my 4H kids all did great, many did much better than I expected.I hope to be able to post a bunch of photos of some of the things one of these nights. After the county fair, we had a couple days to pack and headed to Richland Center for the tradeshow. The crowd was down as expected because of the economy and such, but it was a great time for sure. Met up with so many of the online friends I've made throughout the years, as well as some that I only get a chance to see at a show once a year or so. Went out for a nice steak dinner (on that note... word of advice... dont always trust a gps unit will take you to exactly where you were planning on, but the trip was sure a highlight no doubt!!!).We even managed to drag a few celebrities out to our campsite on Saturday night for a corn roast, and some bratwursts cooked over the scrolling scraps campfire. It was great visiting with BJ Holm,Rick Hutcheson, Pat Sherman, Shannon Flowers, and about 8 to 10 others around the campfire as the corn roasted. As for my contest entries there, I did great. Not as great as Jeff did with his intarsia piece, but I entered 4 things, and got a ribbon on all four! I was very pleased to say the least!Although the crowd was down, this show ranks right up there on the fun meter, being probably the best time I have had at a show besides the moment I won that Dewalt scrollsaw at my first scroll saw picnic years ago in Pontiac Il. A big thank you to everyone involved, it was GREAT!!! I urge anyone that ever gets a chance to attend one to do it!!!
Now Im back, back to the same old grind. As Fred said,I am in the same industry as he is, and although we are a bit busier than he must be (I'd guess we are running at 75% capacity), we are trying to totally revamp our steel shop as well as keep up production, so its been 10 hour days relocating the weld stations, and making room for a couple new machines that should arrive any day.So, between the heat and humidity, the longer hour days, being behind because of all of my vacations in July, and all the new ideas I've got in my head on some scrolling ideas, the only things holding me back are the number of hours in a day, and my cranium feeling so full it about to explode at times. It was nice to see that someone noticed my absence, thats a nice feeling, thank you Marsha.I'm alive and well, even if sometimes I feel like I'm swimming in quicksand!
Rick H posted some pictures on his site I see, and here are a couple more links to some more photos from the Midwest Tradeshow posted by BJ Holm on Wooders.I will have a bunch of photos to post to soon.
