| Maybe around $100 or a little more. The main thing to remember is that this is an old saw and parts may be hard to find. I have had the electronic board rebuilt at a reasonable price.
I used this model a lot back when they were new. |

| As Far as I know, Black and Decker, who owns Delta as well as other brands, has stopped all new Delta Scroll Saw sales and manufacturing.
Spare parts will become harder and harder to find as inventory of parts are depleted and B & D halts re-stocking of parts. A common complaint is the failure of the VS control circuit board. Delta has run out of the circuit board. Replacements are hard to come by.
Sounds like you may have a SS250, although the Digital Readout for an 18 inch VS machine does not sound familiar.
Most Delta VS scroll saw machines were sold at the $100 to $150 USD mark. Only the belt driven P-20, which originally sold in the same price range as the DeWalt 788, has held up its value. (Aside: B & D also owns DeWalt.)
Ya 'know, its all about the saw cutting wood and vibration. All kinds of problems can occur with a specific saw regardless of brand name or model. Some individual units can be better than others of the same make and model. Your money, your choice. Don't go just by brand name.
To answer your question, I would place a value on the saw of less than 60% of the original due to saw becoming an orphan from Delta and B & D. However, the motor + control circuit board + wires and switches could fetch $70.00 as spare parts with the right bidders on EBay (or less than $30.00 if bidding don't go your way.)
Phil
P.S.: The above is an opinion. |

| I'd offer him $25, due to the unavailablility of parts. Who know? He may take it. |

| Everett, I believe the only 18" saw that Delta made was the Q3, C arm with an electronic curcuit board that gave many owners problems and am pretty sure they stopped making parts for it quite awhile ago. I would check with Rick's Scrollsaw, Rick can probably give you a lot more info on that saw.

| Prior to the Q3 that was the Delta top line saw. They indeed did have the digital readout. The speed control system actually read the speed, not like all the other saws on the market then and now that are just a variable speed through amperage fed to the motor. It was a saw way above it's time. When they were new in the 90"s they sold for $800-$900 . So it was not a cheap saw by any means.
I still have 2 of these saws that run good and are in my collection, but use the Q3 now, as it was a smoother running saw.
As stated the boards are out of stock, but the person that rebuilt mine said about any beginning electronic person can repair the board. It is a very simple circuit. He fixed mine and others for about $50 each. |

| Can you just heave the circuit board and install a rotary dial like the Dewalt one? Alan. |

| No the Dewalt board will not work in the Delta. Like I said the Delta actually read the rpm of the motor and no other saw did that. Each saw has it's own way of making the boards to run their saws and I don't think any of the boards would interchange between different makes of saws.
Maybe a new Dewalt motor and controls could be machined and adapted to fit somehow, but why try to put Ford parts in a Chevy? |
