Default More cheap goodies.

Went down to Victoria on Moday. Last week I bid on 5 Midmark hospital cribs on the government action website. I got 3 of them, total was $27.50. all I wanted was the base and castors. These cribs were $4,800 each new so the base and wheels are good ones. Anyway I had to take them apart to fit in the truck and as I laid one over the catch that holds the spring loaded sides let go. So now my nose is floping around like a fish, so I think it is sort of broken.
While I was at the auction they have stuff on the floor that they just sell. I bought a table top for $10. and a computer desk for $20. This desk has a huge coil spring in that is adjustable depending on what weight is on it. And a hydraulic gizzmo for the keyboard shelf. so I put the bigger table top on the stand and used the original top as the front shelf. Even with the much bigger top and shelf it still work great. I will post a few pics.
Folks it really is worth going to government auctions. It is just amazing what they sell. And most of it is very expencive stuff.

neat stuff!

I went to a DNR (dept. of natural resources) auction a year or 5 ago... wanted one of the old wooden desks that I knew would be there. They quickly were bid out of my range - even the ones that were in horrible shape.

Salvage is great. 39 years ago, while working for the summer job in the school district where I taught they were renovating some classrooms and were going to trash a solid oak frame 3' x 5' teacher's desk having 6 drawers and a composite inlaid top and replace it with a 2' x 3' desk having 3 drawers with an Al frame and formica pressboard top. I had to borrow a truck to bring it home. It took two of us to lift it onto and off the truck since it weighs about 100lbs.
Having served as a place to mark papers for 30+ years, it is now my computer station and big enough to hold a monitor, keyboard, scanner, modem, speakers, phone and lamp with room left over to act as my regular desk.
