Default Yard sale surprise!

Went yard saling today and was browsing thru all the craft stuff a woman had on her table. Found out by some questioning that she does intarsia! She is getting to be elderly and sickly and not able to scroll so well and gave me a bunch of sand paper and a couple books, one being the collapsible Basket Patterns book by Rick and Karen Longabaugh. She was more than happy to meet a fellow scroller. She makes all her own patterns and has sold her finished works all over Canada. Didn't get her last name but her first is Shelly. And she just lives a 5 minute walk up the street from me! I will be going back to see her again so she can show me some more of her finished and in progress works. See what happens when you get to meet neighbors when yard saling!

Too cool, youve found a new friend that shares your passion, as well as years of experience. A friendship like that that is priceless!!!! And, I bet shes even more tickled about it than you are.You just may be the medicine she needs to help her out!

Great story, It's always nice to meet someone that close to get with and share knowledge and skills. I was wondering if you knew how long you two had been that close and didn't know it?

We have lived 5 minutes up the road from each other for almost 4 years now. I heard that someone up that way was into scrolling but nobody seemed to know who it was. I sure hope she gets feeling better to finish the piece she started, it sure is beautiful. I told her I would come back to help out if needed, and to learn some tricks if she was willing to share. She didn't seem to have any desire to do anything more. I'll definitely check in on her again.

That is just too cool, I also hope she gets better...Do you do Intarsia also or are you just wanting to learn?

Wow, that just sounds so cool. And to think that you live so close. What a neat "yard sale" find.

It's always fun to meet others who share your passion! I had the pleasure of meeting Lucielle Crabtree at a show and we chatted for quite awhile. She is a lovely lady. If I'm at a show and start talking to other scrollers...I could be there for awhile!

It is great to meet another scroller. I met Marcel a year and a half ago and we have a great friendship.
