Default Happy 4th

G'day all,
Just like to wish all my Yankee mates a happy and safe 4th of July holiday.
If you can afford to fill the fuel tanks, drive safely.

'Tis my littlest friend's fifteenth birthday today .

She was born one of a trio who were given the litter-names of, 'Yankee', 'Doodle' and 'Dandy', in honor of the day. She was actually 'Doodle', the one I kept and finally named 'Rio'.

Although she's well over a hundred in doggy years now and totally blind, she's still leading a happy and vigorous life, going for walkies each day with me and my husband calling out, "Rio...left! Rio... right!" as the occasion demands.

Here's hoping everyone over the Pond has great weather and enjoys the festivities. I'll be celebrating with you, even if my reason is slightly different .

Gill

Happy 4th to everyone! We are going to spend the day trying to modify our fence to keep in the dog we rescued from the animal shelter. He's about a 1 year old boxer who jumps higher than I have ever seen a dog jump. In addition, he climbs fences. Wish us luck. If you drink - don't drive, and if you are in a dry area like we are in western NC - have a hose handy if you are shooting off fireworks!

A safe and happy 4th to all. We don't have any dogs or cats any more (too many allergies in the house as it is) but a reminder from our local animal shelter to all who do. Please don't take your pets to any fireworks displays. Their hearing is far to sensitive to be subject to the high noise levels of fireworks, esp. the final blasts of the show. They can actually become permanently deaf as a result.

My sister sent me this, but I couldn't get the pics in.

Happy 4th of July!................ ......let' s get this started now,
So it will be out there on the fourth!!!!

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG,
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Thanks to all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be.
Please Support all of the troops defending our Country.
And God Bless our Military who are protecting our Country for our Freedom.
Thanks To them, and their sacrifices we can celebrate the 4th of July
We must never forget who
Gets the credit for the freedoms we have, of which we should be
Eternally grateful.

I watched the flag
Pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine
Saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..
I looked at
Him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square
And eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men
Like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign Soil
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes Shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' Graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps One night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler Play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a Coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the Children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and Husbands
With interrupted lives.
I Thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.
Enjoy Your Freedom
&God Bless Our Troops

When
You receive this, please stop for a moment
And
Say a
Prayer for our servicemen!
This can be very powerful.... Just send this to all the people in your
Address book. Do not stop this please.. Of all the gifts you could give
A US Soldier, Prayer is the very best one.

That goes for all the soldiers and veterans of all countries who have sacrificed to make this a better world.

THANK YOU!
