I'd agree with that. The cherry grows fast. It reproduces by seed, but it does tend to sprout off tons of suckers at the same time. It could definitely make it to 9" diameter in 10 yrs or less, especially in your neck of the woods. It's one of the few tree's that holds it's density for it's speed of growth...unlike a pine, the faster it grows the softer the wood. There will be good color contrast, especially on a younger tree that has had less heart growth. I still believe there where many more berries, but the berries where lost. Storms here have almost eliminated every fruit on every type of tree, especially after the 10 minute hail storm two days ago that flattened the corn and made the rhubarb look like swiss cheese. Quarter sized hail.
