| Tornadoes last night.. We had a very nerve racking night as tornadoes were touching down all over northern Iowa.
Waterloo was lucky, but starting west of W'loo(our short hand for Waterloo)at about 5:00pm cst the town of Parkersburg was the hardest hit and then New Hartford was hit then the tornado traveled N.E. of W'loo and hit Dunkerton and a few more towns east of here.
My wife and I were watching the weather alerts (local news has what they call storm tracker weather) 'til about 11:00p.m. cst.
At least seven are confirmed dead, five in Parkersburg and two in New Hartford.
The reason I started this thread is to ask for prayers from you good folks here,as there are alot of homeless folks this morning who will have to rebuild their lives.
Thanks in advance.

| I heard the news on the Radio on the way in to work. My heart and prayers go out to all the folks who have lost loved ones and homeless. I live in tornado ally. Thanks be to God I have not been affected by one. But they are a terrifying ordeal to go through.

| Wow, here in SE WI we escaped the worst of that storm, we just had lots of thunder and lightening, mild winds, and only about an inch of rain. It was a nice rain too, not a hard heavy downpour. With the sun out today, you can watch the corn grow. Dale |

| Update.... only 4 dead in Parkersburg, one that they (officials) thought dead found alive.
1/3 of Parkersburg destroyed by what is thought to have been an EF 5 tornado(EF is enhanced Fujita scale the weather service now uses) at or above 200 mph winds.
Also Hugo,Minn. hit too one dead there.Thoughts and prayers to them also.

| Tornado's and especially death sucks. But there's a bright side we can look at other than the sunshine that happens after the storm. Lots of free wood! I would offer up myself and my chainsaw when a local area tornado happens to assist in the removal of fruit trees and ornamentals like dogwoods, redbuds, sumac's and anything else I can't easily get a hold of. Technically, these are exotic woods, and you are not just helping the community, you are recycling. Them old barns have awesome old growth domestic timbers, especially if you can get the beams, but do be sure and dig out the nails before use.
