| Not here much As you may, or may not, have noticed I don't get on here as much as I want to or like to. Seems I have some sort of problem with my left hip area and sciatica (sure I misspelled that) nerve that makes it very painful for me to sit for much longer than 5 or 10 minutes at a time. I can walk, sit in a recliner, or, best part - stand when I scrollsaw leaning against a stool, I just can't sit in a regular chair or worse yet, sleep!! If I fall asleep in the chair at night, they just leave me there. Otherwise, I get about 4 hours sleep a night. The pain is excruciating and radiates down my entire left leg into my foot, when I'm sitting or laying down, not standing. So I will be in here occassionally to check on my friends and see what is happening, but rest assured I will be making plenty of sawdust as that is just about all I can do pain free!! When the pain dr decides what to do next and I get rid of the pain (back surgery is totally OUT), I'll be back more regularly.
Betty

| I had the same problem, and I also said back surgery was out but my leg started to lose function and the dr's said operate or lose your leg function and wear a brace like the ones people who had had polio wore. I opted for surgery this past January and I am back on the road to recovery. Feeling is coming back and the pain has gone. Thank God.
Good luck in whatever you decide.

| Gosh Betty, that sounds like your , ciatic nerve. running down the left side of you left leg. I have that also. but I went to a carprater. and he fixed me good. beleive it or not. I couldn't lay down for like 4 years. and now I can. couldn't sit or stand, or lay down. now I can do all 3. you can take meds for this. but I oped for carapratict. wich realines the spine. if posabale. and releves the stress on that nearv. helped me. hope this helps you. meds kills pain. but doesn't help the spine. if you don't fix it. or try to fix it. it will only get worse. hope this helps. it is helpabale. your friend Evie |

| Betty - I also hope you get better - as I have been there and done that - and that pain is about as bad as I have ever had or want to have. It surly is the sciatic (someone will find out the spelling of this work) nerve. After trips to the pull u apart doctor (can not spell that one either) and the Dr. I found that I have a crush disk in my back. With much care and stretching of the lower back - I am back to almost normal - some bad days - buy only some. I hope you find a cure for yours - as that pain SUCKS. Best of luck.

| I was wondering about you. I have had trouble with that nerve in the past, and I know how painful it is.Shooting pains all the way down the leg. I found the most uncomfortable position is washing hands at the bathroom sink. I hope it clears up soon.Have the doctor give you a shot of that juice (cortizone) from that big long pointy pokey thingy (syringe)in your doohickey (your butt). Stay active hun, but DO know when to stop and rest! dale |

| ![011[1]](http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/images/smilies/011[1].gif) Betty, about 23 years ago I was in your same position. It got so bad that I would step foward on my right foot and drag my left foot foward. Chiropractors couldn't help so my family doctor put me in the hospital for test. He brought in an neurosurgon who told me that surgery was the only way to help. I threw a fit about all the war stories about back surgery. When I got done he just said that it wouldn't get any better on its own and that some day I wouldn't be able to walk. So to make a story short I had the surgery and I feel as good as old guy can feel. So if its the bad stuff you have heard is stopping you from surgery, think about what doing nothing might mean. Any way best of luck and my prayers will be with you. Richard aka thumbs ![051[1]433](http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/images/smilies/051[1]433.gif)
