Default Copyright, Creator's Rights & Work-For-Hire

This is an interesting article about Jerry Siegel's family suing Warner Bros. / DC Comics to regain the rights to Superman since 1947.

They won!

However the case is still pending:

Sequart Research & Literacy Organization COLUMNS > Sequential Culture #30: Superman's Copyright: The Never-Ending Battle?

Personally, I think the judgment was fair - but wrong.
Siegel and Schuster sold Superman to DC Comics in good faith and for a large amount of money (at the time). It could be argued that if they never would have sold the character would never have been successful.

I never understood the grooming efforts of superman. He's like impervious, yet can cut his hair with his laser eyes? He has to be careful not to laser himself or he gets hurt. Ok..so why doens't a bad guy laser him? His disguise is the greatest..a pair of glasses and now nobody recognizes him. The Hulk is more super...as long as it's not Lou Ferigno of course.

Hello non-believer,

Who says Superman's heat vision is anything like our laser?

One of the things which distinguish him from other superheroes is that Superman's alter ego is Clark Kent not the other way around.

Yes, there are many inconsistencies & paradoxes in the DC Universe.

Jeff (WorkingforWood)

Can I just remind you (LOL) Superman is NOT real! If I were fiction I would always look a million dollars, too. As it is I often look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards - even if I have made the effort!

Next you'll say that Star Trek isn't real. Where have you been?

Bob
They are doing the commercials because Scotty won't beam them up.........so being stuck here, they've got to make a living somehow.
