Default OT: Postal rate increase May 12th

Just asking----

How many know about the US Postal Service rate going up a Penney to $0.42 in two weeks, May 12th?

I went to the Post office to buy another book of stamps and a guy in line warned me to be sure to buy the "Forever" stamps since postal rates are going up.

Came back home, and did a Google, yes, on May 12 rate goes up. Guy saved me some grief by recommending the "forever" stamps. Passing the good deed forward as it were.

a special issue (a specific stamp) US Postal service 1st class stamp where each stamp is valid as postage for one 1st class stamp "forever" with out regard to any future postal rate increase. Currently stamp is sold for $0.41.

The idea is: if you need to buy some stamps to get you thru the end of April bill payments, then you should buy forever stamps. Otherwise, come May 12, for any left over old 41 cent stamps, you will have to go stand in line to buy one penny make-up stamp. Many people find the hassle of buying make-up stamps a real pain due to the long lines.

If you don't need to buy some stamps in next two weeks, you are out of luck, and will have to join the long queue for buying the one penny additional postage stamp. With the added cost of car gas, the cost of time, cost of your frustration, yada-yada-yada.

I don't know about anywhere else but my little hole-in-the-wall post office down here can't keep the 'forever' stamps in stock. Guess these country folks aren't so dumb afterall. I probably have enough to get me by for 6 months anyway. Good to be friends with the 'post mistress' (I gave her one of my postal truck banks when she first took over).

Buy stamps online; it's well worth a dollar to me not to have to stand in line, not to mention the price of gas. If you don't want to or can't buy online (for example, don't wanna use your credit card online), your postman can bring you an order form you just fill out and mail. At my time of life I spend as little time in lines as possible
