Piercing

Hi .
For those curious about the term piercing . I looked in the index in Scroll Saw Fretwork Techniques & Projects by Patrick Spielman & James Reidle . There are several references to the term Piercing . A term I had not heard of until one of the members querried it. I thought I had found the answer earlier in the book and reponded . It was not till I ran into photos later stating this is an other example of piercing . In a nut shell, it is drilling holes in the waste wood in order to thread the blade through to cut out out the inside openings of the pattern. Sometimes called Piercing Work. The book I found to be full of information . If you are just starting out ,I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for that bit of information. There are so many terms and acronyms to digest that there ought to be a section in the forum to educate those of us who are relatively new to the art. I sometimes fail to question a term I don't know so as not to appear completely uninformed. From what you describe above, the term piercing is not a fairly common term. Thanks again.
