Thanks for the nice welcome note Evie. I'm a long time wood worker, intarsia artist, sand-blast sculpturer and wood turner living in the mountains midway between Bakersfield and Los Angeles. I've searched the yellow pages of both Bakersfield and Los Angeles for a reasonable place to make bandsaw blades, but they all want commercial accounts, not the hobbyist. I don't mind spending good money for a good blade, but if I should break it - now what? With the price of shipping going up relative to the price of gas - even shipping is becoming very expensive. Hope someone knows the answer to this ongoing problem.

I used to be good at being "Devious" when it came to toys, after 17yrs wife is on to me. I should'nt complain, I have a good arsenal of toys.

Chris,
Sounds great! I get a lot of satisfaction from re-sawing lumber myself. I bought a Kreg Fence for my band saw, kind of pricey but a very nice investment, especially with the re-saw guide.

Dean - good luck with that!!

My wife has decided that I can do the kitchen cabinets in our remodel so I gave her a list of tools that I will need to do that - Kreg pocket hole jig kit, dovetail jig and a compressor and finish nailer to do the cases. Sweeeeet!!

I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours . Seeing as how we are comparing saw's , I'll throw mine into the ring . It is an 18" Gil-Bilt . Bought in the late 1970's as a kit . It is Full length . I have ripped a lot of planks to build boats and other wood working projects . It does'nt cut very straight and shakes a lot . I watched in awe at the Puyallup wood show as table top models were being demonstated . Small blades and cutting in tiny circles .The accessories can add up Fast $$ . Almost makes me want to uncrate the Grizzly I bought years ago and have'nt used . Enjoy your saws . Cheers .Roger
