| Evie, it has a 3/4 hp motor and takes 1/8 - 1/2 inch blades. It has two speeds.

| G'day Chris,
That second speed is a winner when cutting very thick or hard timber.
I re-sawed a small log of Mulga on the weekend for Bill to use as pen blanks and that slow speed sure came in handy |

| Thanks for the info John. That's good to know, I haven't tried the slow speed yet.
(P.S. I'm safe, my hubby never reads these forums, he thinks what we do is too much like "work", I'm not telling him otherwise either )

I'm glad you are using and enjoying the new saw! Re-sawing is one of my favorite tasks in the shop. You never know what will be in the wood and it also gives you double or more wood for the money. May I suggest you try book matching some of the wood you re-saw? That is fun and challenging in itself.
As Jeff said the repair kit is worth the investment and Woodcraft has one that has a torch in it that uses a "Cricket" type lighter.....and it really works! Here's a link to the web page. http://www.woodcraft.com/depts.aspx?DeptID=2125

| Thanks for the info and link Dave, I'll check into getting that. I really am enjoying the resawing.

| That saw sounds like a great deal, Chris - shame that Sears.ca don't have that model. They do have a 14" model which look very similar but is around $550 - specs listed on the site are minimal though .. doesn't mention it's resaw capacity ..

| Hi everyone!
I'm new to this and have a question. Does anyone know where to get a repair kit for bandsaw blades? I've got dozen of broken blades laying around (all busted of course!) and just can't justify sending them back to Olson for re-welding. I'm not interested in spending a lot of money for this kit, since I'm not in the "bandsaw business", just an ocassional user. Tell ya what, 111 inch blades are really hard to find. Expensive too! Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance. |

| Nubbin,
Delta makes an extension that turns the 14" Delta in a 12" resaw capacity. The downside is that now you need 105" blades. The kit is not very expensive and is easy to install. It raises the post and the top wheel by 6". I have one and it works fine.
