(Updates on my Mini Lathe Cum Rotary Indexer)

Did some brain storming on my 4th axis Tail Stock and It comes out great...Basically I took 200mm 5/8" Bolt+1 Nut, 6mm plate, Aluminium handwheel with teflon handle, One Bearing and Machined a conical support.

The other thing I did is to modify the Chuck, as previous chuck was larger and I have to manage the space for its extended bolts.. The new one is very easy to install and give me good space for z-axis..

In the chuck, A wooden screw will be slid into the center hole and will be tightened on the Wooden stock..The rest of circular holes will be used to insert further screws into the stock (Only two more screws will be enough, that will hold the part against rotation). The chuck will then be rotated on the threads of 4th axis shaft..and then I can easily manage to machine the complex rotary designs ..

TodayI Install all electrical wiring and test it through computer..Its working fine...

Thanks Dean

Some progress yesterday...Here is the rough operation of Egg-grapes part. The job is incomplete...I have just checked whether my small 4th axis motor can hold the cutting forces/Torque on the wood!!! or not ... Need some more optimization... However so far, results are good... I think so....

In toolpath I just did 'ROUGH MACHINING' with end mill ...I still have to do 'FINISH MACHINING' with ball nose tool.. With alone rough machining operation the finish can't be achieved..

Welcome back, I haven't heard from you for a while. See you are still engineering ways to make great projects. Keep up the good work.

KHalid. I wonder if your cnc router will have a bond with it's new creation ? Like a mother and child . Did you name your first creation ? I looked at cnc routers here . A bit noisy and subject to break downs . Nice work .

My First machine (steel one) made the second MDF one.. And my MDF machine making her parts and growing... This second machine is soon going to make a new 6-axis MDF CNC machine...

Almost 7 months pass through without break down of my MDF machine... and I am inspecting it before starting work, and I foresee it will continue its work for the next 10 years..I have just to change the bearing of Router...

Yes.. Spindle Router is noisey... and we can't do anything on small scale to silent it...

I removed the rough machined rotary part from the machine... cut it off the extra material from the ends... and wowlaaaa, it seems to be a good showpiece stand... Tomorrow I will polish it and see How it comes out...
