and make a completely new one and call it their own. I just wanted to ask this question as i have just bought from a chap on ebay a dragon inside a circular saw blade pattern, and i know the dragon is from wildwood designs, but he says he has made the pattern.

Not really. If you can recognize it I am sure it is not cosher. It is one thing to use a pattern as a reference in designing a piece, like Durer's Praying Hands, but to add a border to someones art and call it your own is not cool. He could however be the original designer of the wildwood designs pattern.

I am pretty sure I know who your talking about on ebay. I also know they have been contacted more then once by a fairly well known pattern designer concerning illegal trade practices. If its the person I am thinking of,they sell many patterns on there, none of them original, none of them their own! Dale
